Hartford Foundation Provides $200,000 To Help Hurricane Refugees Avoid Homelessness

HARTFORD, CT -- Refugee families from Puerto Rico who are dropped from the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s transitional housing program may be eligible for assistance through a $200,000 grant awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The foundation announced this week that it is making the award to the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, just as 37 families in the state — as of Wednesday — were expected to lose the FEMA or state aid that is supporting them at various hotels around the state, including Hartford’s Red Roof Inn.

Goya Foods Donates to Hartford Relief Center

HARTFORD, CT -- Thanks to Goya Foods, Inc. and its Goya Gives campaign, displaced families served by Hartford's the Centro de Ayuda Para Nuestros Amigos Caribeños (Relief Center for our Caribbean Friends) had a reason to celebrate the new year.
