2018 Youth Employment Program to Serve 1,300 Youths

HARTFORD, CT -- More than 1,000 youths in Greater Hartford will begin working under a summer career readiness program aimed at training young people for jobs in high-demand sectors. The Capital City contributed $1 million to the program, while the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving provided more than $400,000. The state, its labor unit department and the American Savings Foundation and other groups also provided funding for the workforce program.

Total Charitable Donations In Connecticut Rises; Number Of Individuals Giving Falls

HARTFORD, CT -- Total charitable donations are on the rise in Connecticut, but fewer people are giving, a report released last week from the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy found. In its Connecticut Giving Report, the council shared how both individuals and foundations gave more money in 2015, the latest year for which data is available. Giving from foundations rose from $1.02 billion in 2014 to $1.2 billion in 2015, while individual donations rose from $3.4 billion to $3.48 billion over the same period.

Hartford Foundation Supports Opioid Education for Medical Providers

HARTFORD, CT -- Thanks to an $80,000 grant funded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) has been able to support the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Comprehensive Education and Needs Training (NASCENT) project.
