HARTFORD, CT – The Connecticut Council for Philanthropy (CCP) has named Tauck Family Foundation the recipient of the 2018 Nancy P. Roberts Award for Innovation in Philanthropy.

NEW LONDON, CT – The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut has issued its latest round of charitable grants made throughout the eastern Connecticut region totaling $1,989,319. These latest grants are made possible by the Foundation’s generous donors throughout the region, and bring its year-to-date charitable community investments to $3.7 million.

WATERBURY­, CT -- A $30,000 grant from Connecticut Community Foundation to the Connecticut affiliate of FoodCorps, a national organization that connects kids to healthy foods, will give schoolchildren in four Waterbury and Naugatuck schools hands-on lessons in healthy eating in order to promote their preferences for fruits and vegetables—and improve overall nutrition and wellness.  The award is among 51 new grants totaling $366,600 made by the Foundation in their April grant round to nonprofit organizations serving communities in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills.

HARTFORD, CT -- Thanks to an $80,000 grant funded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) has been able to support the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Comprehensive Education and Needs Training (NASCENT) project. This project was created to educate clinicians about their role in decreasing opioid misuse, thus reducing the number of individuals exposed to opioids in the first place – a critical public health concern.

HARTFORD, CT -- As Connecticut continues to respond to budget challenges and declining school enrollment, some school districts have been considering regionalizing their K-12 education services as a way to reduce costs. In an effort to get a clearer understanding of the potential educational and community impacts of school and district regionalization, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has sponsored a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of K-12 regionalization to help inform those efforts. The literature review focuses on what is known about the effects of K-12 regionalization on education expenditures and educational achievement, based on recent empirical studies.
