Darien and New Canaan Will Compete to See Who is More Charitable on Giving Tuesday

DARIEN and NEW CANAAN — The rivalry between New Canaan and Darien is legendary. However, the rivalry was mostly limited to sports — until now. Carrie Bernier, the executive director the Community Fund of Darien, and Lauren Patterson, president and CEO of the New Canaan Community Foundation, decided to harness this competitive spirit to the benefit of their organizations. On Nov. 28, the two charitable organizations are holding a competition for “most generous town” to see who can get the most donations.

Fund Started to Support Men & Boys

BRISTOL, CT -- Kimberly Selvaggi and John Sperduti spoke at the Men & Boys’ Fund’s community meeting on the needs of local men and boys. The meeting, held at Southington’s Hawk’s Landing Country Club on November 14th, introduced the Men & Boys’ Fund, a newly established fund at Main Street Community Foundation that works to improve the quality of life of local men and boys and help them make a positive difference in their communities.

Valley Community Foundation Awards $881,000 in Single- and Multi-Year Grants

DERBY, CT -- The Valley Community Foundation (VCF) is pleased to announce that $881,000 has been awarded to 11 organizations as a result of its 2017 Responsive Grants process. This is the largest multi-year grant commitment in VCF’s history. With governmental budgets in flux and an ever-growing need for services, there has never been a more important time for VCF to support organizations committed to this region. These grant dollars will help provide a reliable source of funding during a time of financial uncertainty.
