WEST HARTFORD, CT -- Children's Reading Partners, an initiative of the Jewish Community Relations Council is looking for reading partners and is offering trainings in September. NORWALK, CT -- Impact Fairfield County is pleased to announce a $100,000 grant opportunity. Grants will be awarded to non-profits for significant projects or programs that reach under-served populations and highlight unmet needs in our area. NORWALK, CT -- Underscoring their commitment to collaboratively support public agencies and non-profit organizations striving to close education, workforce and other opportunity gaps in Connecticut, the founding members of the Collective Impact Opportunity Fund today announced the initial distribution of grants from the Fund — bestowing $1,032,000 to 10 organizations serving the region.
PUTNAM, CT -- Day Kimball Healthcare will expand a home visiting program through its Family Advocacy Center because of a $616,000 grant from the state’s Office of Early Childhood. The grant will allow DKH to offer services to families in Columbia, Hampton, and Windham through its Nurturing Families Network. It already has programs in 13 other northeastern Connecticut towns.
SIMSBURY, CT -- The Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate will have its biggest field yet when 18 teams come to play Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury Sept. 7-8. The tournament is organized by the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Foundation.
TORRINGTON, CT -- The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation has allocated a minimum of $55,000 to distribute to public charities and faith-based organizations in its 20-town service area* for year-end critical-needs grants. Grants are made possible through the Draper Foundation Fund and the Marion Wm. & Alice Edwards Fund. Applications are due by Friday, October 11, 2019. Grants will be awarded in December 2019.
PLYMOUTH, CT -- A $1,400 grant from the Betts Family Fund and the Bristol Brass General Grant Fund at Main Street Community Foundation was recently awarded to the Plymouth Historical Society to support the 16-page Passport to Plymouth.
RIDGEFIELD, CT -- Over the last seven months, Terry McManus has spent dozens of hours at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center digitizing glass plate negatives that photographer Joseph Hartmann created of Ridgefield residents and the town during the early 20th century. Purchase of the digital scanner was made possible through funds raised at the 2018 Fairfield County Giving Day sponsored by Fairfield County's Community Foundation and Bank of America.
