Fairfield County’s Community Foundation Launches 2017/2018 Advocacy Series with Legislative Forums
NORWALK, CT -- Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s Advocacy Series launched this year’s program with Legislative Forums in December with a focus on strengthening relationships between nonprofit leaders and elected officials to encourage them to work together for community improvement. The Advocacy Series will run through May 2018 and was developed to help nonprofit leaders build the relationships, knowledge and skills to make them better advocates for their organizations and the communities they serve.
Multimedia Exhibit Focuses On West Hartford's Diversity
WEST HARTFORD, CT -- A new multimedia exhibit will put West Hartford's diverse population on display. The project was developed over the last year by town employees Roszena Haskins, the town's director of adult and continuing education, and Kerry Jones, director of elementary education, after receiving a $50,000 grant from the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund.

"Inspiring Equity" Multimedia Exhibit to be Unveiled at West Hartford Town Hall
WEST HARTFORD — When Roszena Haskins and Kerry Jones first heard that their proposed storytelling grant application was approved last November, they were ecstatic. With a $50,000 Inspiring Equity grant from the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, the grant coordinators set out to find a unique approach to bring the community together through the lens of individual and collective stories. Now, one year later, the product of this initiative will be unveiled in a high-tech, multi-media exhibit that will be shared on Dec. 14 and 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Town Hall Auditorium, 50 South Main Street. The exhibit is free and open to all.

Hartford Generation Work Launches Workforce Leaders Academy
HARTFORD, CT -- Hartford Generation Work has announced the inaugural class of the Workforce Leaders Academy (WLA). The WLA is a 12-month fellowship designed to improve the quantity, quality and sustainability of efforts to move young adults ages 18-29 to work. WLA is a project of Hartford Generation Work, in collaboration with United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, Capital Workforce Partners, the City of Hartford and Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. WLA is funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation with additional support by the Nutmeg Foundation and Workforce Solutions Collaborative of Metro Hartford.

NORWICH, CT -- Liberty Bank has presented Lottie Scott of Norwich with the 2017 Willard M. McRae Community Diversity Award. Scott, a strong community advocate and leader over the last 25 years, received her award from bank officials at a gala reception at the Norwich Inn Wednesday night that was attended by some 100 friends, family members, bank officials, and community leaders.

Dominion Energy Awards $550,000 to Organizations Serving Veterans and Military Families in Seven States
RICHMOND, VA -- Dominion Energy announced today it will give more than a half million dollars to eleven nonprofit organizations providing essential support services to active duty, veterans and military families in seven states served by the company. Each organization will receive $50,000 for initiatives that help meet the needs of veterans and their families. The grants are being made through the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, the company's philanthropic arm.
