WATERBURY­, CT -- A $30,000 grant from Connecticut Community Foundation to the Connecticut affiliate of FoodCorps, a national organization that connects kids to healthy foods, will give schoolchildren in four Waterbury and Naugatuck schools hands-on lessons in healthy eating in order to promote their preferences for fruits and vegetables—and improve overall nutrition and wellness.  The award is among 51 new grants totaling $366,600 made by the Foundation in their April grant round to nonprofit organizations serving communities in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills.

HARTFORD, CT -- The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has awarded Upper Albany Main Street a three-year $287,000 grant that will allow the organization to bring on additional staff to oversee the administrative aspects of the the Route 44 Safety Improvement Project.

NORTH HAVEN, CT -- The Animal Haven, one of the oldest, private, no kill shelters for homeless dogs and cats in Connecticut, today celebrated its grand reopening and broke ground for the construction of a new cat wing. The renovations were made possible in part by a grant from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven from the Lillian and Henry A. Konopacke Fund.
