Strong local media and information landscapes are crucial to the health of communities and democracy. Well-informed communities and decision-makers are integral to making an impact on many issue areas foundations address. Recognizing the importance of media—as well as the mounting challenges media organizations face—foundations of all sizes, with a wide array of grantmaking priorities, are stepping up support for media and journalism in a variety of ways.
Join CCP members and the Media Impact Funders—a national network of funders who support media and journalism in the public interest—for an engaging introduction to the field of media grantmaking. This virtual session, the first of two, will provide an overview of the field, tracking its growth in recent years, highlighting the media funding landscape in Connecticut, and providing insights for funders interested in engaging in this area. CCP members will share their stories and experiences, illuminating why they have chosen to engage in media funding, as well as impact and key lessons learned.
