With Bill Logue, The Logue Group
Difficult conversations are often necessary in the course of our work in philanthropy. Whether it is delivering news to current grantees or partners, bringing up a tough subject with a colleague or board member, or any number of reasons, there are certain conversations we find difficult to approach. But we must have them.
When we are uncomfortable, upset, or worried about the outcome or the impact on a relationship, conversations can become uncertain. This workshop will help people understand the complexities of these conversations and how to prepare for and conduct them, providing support in getting to a constructive resolution.
We’ll discuss identifying the elements underlying a conversation, how to deliver difficult messages, and how to approach conversations with an awareness of power dynamics that exist in philanthropy. We’ll also provide helpful information for holding a difficult conversation in a virtual space.
This 2-hour workshop will include learning and overviews with our expert trainer, work and skills practice in small groups, and ‘take home’ resources and materials for all participants.
This workshop is for staff and trustees of CCP member organizations.
