SHEFFIELD, MA -- Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and its Northwest Corner Fund have launched the Northwest Corner COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund to rapidly deploy flexible resources to nonprofit organizations and social service providers working with residents who are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Berkshire Taconic received a matching pledge of $50,000 from anonymous donors to establish the fund, which provides emergency relief in the Litchfield County towns of Canaan/Falls Village, Cornwall, Goshen, Kent, North Canaan, Norfolk, Salisbury, Sharon and Warren. The foundation encourages those who can to make a donation. One hundred percent of gifts will go directly to nonprofits and client advocates who support neighbors in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut.
The Northwest Corner COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund is distributing grants evenly between two initiatives:
- Trusted social workers in northwest Litchfield County are directing funds for health services, food, utilities and other emergency needs to local individuals and families in crisis.
- Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, in partnership with the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation, is awarding rapid response grants to nonprofits working directly with vulnerable residents in northwest Litchfield County during this pandemic.
Donations to the Northwest Corner COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund and applications from eligible nonprofits can be made at BerkshireTaconic.org/NorthwestCornerCOVID19. Residents may contact a social worker through Berkshire Taconic’s Neighbor-to-Neighbor Fund at BerkshireTaconic.org/N2NApply.
