We want to share with you the ways in which we are responding to the upheaval COVID-19 has caused our non-profit partners and our communities.
Accelerating Grant Cycle and Expediting Process
We are moving our customary July 1 application deadline to May 1, 2020 which enables us to deploy funds by the end of May instead of September.
Only organizations who received a grant in 2019 are invited to apply for the May 1 deadline.
Our application process is being streamlined and minimized to reduce time demands on non-profit staff and decrease turnaround time.
Organizations receiving grants will be notified by email on or before May 15; Grant funds will be directly deposited into the organization's bank account via ACH by May 31.
Allowing Flexibility in Expediture of Grants Awarded on March 2, 2020
Note to organizations who received grants in early March: please contact the Foundation if you need to redirect funds to address mission related changes occasioned by COVID-19.
Partnering with The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven's Great Give
In alignment with our signature commitment to literacy organizations and public libraries, NewAlliance Foundation is providing a $10,000 match pool for literacy organizations participating in the Great Give from April 6-May 6, 2020.
Supporting "READy for the Grade 2020" Summer Program
The Foundation is working closely with our six partner libraries to provide the support and flexibility they will need to run this critically important program that, for eight years, has helped stopped the "summer slide" in reading levels of K-3 children from low-income families. The need for this program will be even more acute this coming summer.
Recognizing Two Health Care Organizations
In support of the critical health care services they provide to their communities, NewAlliance Foundation has awarded two special grants to the Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center in New Haven and the Generations Family Health Center in Willimantic/Windham in an effort to address the impact the virus is having in underserved communities in our service area.
NewAlliance Foundation has always deeply appreciated the relentless dedication that our non-profit partners give to their missions in "normal" times. We hope our response to COVID-19 provides some welcomed ease, simplicity and reassurance.
