WEST HARTFORD, CT -- The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford (JCF) has appointed Kathryn Gonnerman as Vice President of Philanthropy. Gonnerman will lead a three-person team to expand JCF’s philanthropic initiatives and grow JCF’s $120 million in assets.
Gonnerman has been a member of JCF’s leadership team since joining the team in December 2013, first serving as the Marketing and Communications Director and then directing the Center for Innovative Philanthropy. She also served with distinction as Interim CEO of JCF in 2018.
“Kathryn owns an advanced knowledge of our Jewish community and high levels of effectiveness in building trusting relationships, strategic planning, management and execution of projects,” says Jacob Schreiber, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford. “All of this will help JCF expand its fund development initiatives and enhance our donors’ philanthropic impact.”
Before coming to JCF, Gonnerman ran Development Operations at the California Community Foundation, a Los Angeles-based foundation that now has $1.8 billion in assets, in addition to roles in marketing.
Gonnerman speaks Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, and has traveled extensively through her work in international education and cross-cultural competency. She earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Yale University in East Asian Studies. Gonnerman was named one of Hartford Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” in 2016. She is a certified leadership coach. Gonnerman lives in Avon, CT, with her spouse and two pug rescues.
The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford (JCF) was founded 47 years ago with an initial gift of $50,000 and has now grown to more than $120 million in assets. JCF, a proud partner to the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford and a member of the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy, is one of the largest charitable foundations in Connecticut. JCF offers an array of options for every size of charitable investment, which includes family giving, donor advised funds, social impact opportunities, and Jewish funding options.
