BRIDGEPORT, CT -- The Bridgeport Prospers Collective Impact Movement, with backbone support provided by the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County, is pleased to announce the appointment of Allison Logan to Executive Director. Logan served as the Early Childhood Program Manager for Bridgeport Prospers from June of 2016 until March of 2017, at which time she took on the role of Acting Executive Director.
“We are thrilled that Allison has accepted this critical position. The work has advanced tremendously under her leadership these past 3 months, and we are confident that Allison’s knowledge, skills, and passion for the children of Bridgeport are exactly what we need to continue to move Bridgeport Prospers forward,” expressed Reverend Cass Shaw, President and CEO of The Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport. Rev. Shaw serves as a Tri-Chair of Bridgeport Prospers, together with well-known Bridgeport advocate Rosa Correa, and Housatonic Community College President Dr. Paul Broadie II.
“Allison’s willingness to lead the Bridgeport Prospers movement as the Executive Director is a win-win.” said Rosa Correa. “Throughout her nearly 20 year career, she has been a strong advocate for children and has worked hard to help bring together community partners, teachers, administrators and parents to best serve all children.”
“Allison’s extensive knowledge of early childhood brain development and learning methods along with her understanding of how the critical early years affect a child’s potential achievements makes her an ideal candidate to propel the Bridgeport Prospers movement in Bridgeport to the next level,” noted Dr. Broadie II. “She has already successfully worked to implement a partnership with the Institute of Child Success (ICS) to expand home visiting and early interventions practices in Bridgeport and I am confident she will be as impactful as she connects resources and strategies through Bridgeport Prospers Community Action Networks (CAN) work focused on older students and young adults.”
Logan holds a BS-ED in Music Education and an MA in Early Childhood Studies with an emphasis on Early Brain Development, both from Central Connecticut State University. She began her career as an elementary school music teacher in Middlefield, CT, where she received the IRA Reading Excellence Through the Arts (RETA) SIG Outstanding Program Award in 1999 for her Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Readers Program. Logan’s HOT Readers Program, “builds literacy skills through the infusion of music, movement, visual arts and language arts.”
Logan has since dedicated the past eighteen years of her career to improving the lives of children and families in Bridgeport, and her experience is vast. Continuing in the arts education field, she worked for IDEAS LLC from 1999 through 2014 as a contributing writer and editor of books and manuals. She also co-developed the Total Literacy and Total Learning approaches. Moreover, Logan became a Total Learning Master Trainer for The Bridgeport Total Learning Institute and as such, provided professional development, coaching, and mentoring to countless Bridgeport teachers.
In 2014, Logan was named Director of Educational Initiatives for Action for Bridgeport Community Development, Inc. (ABCD), where she created, managed, and implemented the Bridge Together Program, coordinated communications with the Bridgeport Board of Education, collaborated with the Bridgeport Family Resource Centers, and served as the liaison between ABCD and the Bridgeport Public Schools. It was in this capacity that Logan initially became involved with Bridgeport Prospers, initially as an active member of the Birth to Three and PK-3rd Grade Community Action Networks (CANs), and next as the Early Childhood Program Manager.
The Bridgeport Prospers Cradle-to-Career Collective Impact Movement Mission is: “to work collectively as a community of stakeholders to have a positive, measurable and sustainable impact on outcomes for all Bridgeport children and families from cradle to career.” Its vision is, “to realize a safe, healthy and vibrant community for all, where children and families experience wholeness, dignity and prosperity.”
