How Philanthropy Can Impact Black Communities in Unexpected Ways

Join Philanthropy Unbound and the Vera Institute of Justice for a conversation on Re-Imagining Philanthropy. Held every August, Black Philanthropy Month (BPM) was created in 2011 by Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland and the Pan-African Women's Philanthropy Network as a global celebration of African-descent giving.

Black Philanthropy Month aims to inform, inspire and invest in Black philanthropic leadership to strengthen African Diaspora giving in all its forms. The theme for 2019 is: Let’s Make History.

In keeping with this theme, Philanthropy Unbound and the Vera Institute of Justice are proud to host a convening that includes a keynote address by Nicholas Turner, President and Director of the Vera Institute, a panel discussion of funders, and networking. During the event, attendees will discuss where and how funders are shifting the historical paradigm of giving and philanthropic investment strategies – all of which can have an indelible impact on Black communities. Throughout this event, participants, speakers, and panelists will be challenged to consider how they are building and maintaining shared prosperity through the power of partnership.
