The Council's annual luncheon, the Connecticut Philanthropy Summit: philanthropy in Connecticut—past, present, and future, that was held on May 9, 2013.
More than 250 colleagues from the philanthropy sector gathered together on May 9 to celebrate, to network and to learn.
Recognition was given to two individuals – Andy Eder of Eder Bros. Inc. and the Eder Family Foundation, recipient of the John H. Filer Award, for his leadership in promoting private action for the public good, and David Nee of The William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, recipient of the Martha S. Newman Award, for his sustained dedication to the public sector and a generosity of spirit to others in the philanthropic community.
A special farewell video tribute to outgoing Council President Nancy Roberts was shown (see below), and was followed by a presentation by Nancy about philanthropy in the Connecticut over that past 22 years (see below). The Council also announced the establishment of a new award, “The Nancy Roberts Award for Innovation in Philanthropy,” which will be presented at the 2014 Connecticut Philanthropy Summit.
Outgoing board of directors for the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy were recognized and incoming officers and directors were introduced. You can read about the Council's new leadership here.
