HARTFORD, CT -- Early Childhood Obesity is the focus of three Connecticut-based foundations as they combine forces to award $194,884 in grants for obesity prevention projects in Connecticut.  The grants are funded with contributions from the Children’s Fund of Connecticut (CFC), the Connecticut Health Foundation, and Newman’s Own Foundation and will be administered by CFC’s non-profit subsidiary, the Child Health and Development Institute (CHDI).

GREENWICH, CT -- This week the Fairfield County native and singer-songwriter told his father, Richard Mayer, that his more than four decades as a Bridgeport educator would not soon be forgotten. ROCKY HILL, CT -- The United Way of Connecticut’s statewide 2-1-1 call center in Rocky Hill has already had hundreds of calls from Puerto Rican families seeking help for family members expected to be coming here. United Way President and C.E.O. Richard Porth said there are many families looking for help. "About sixty percent, two-thirds of the calls we’re getting are people looking for relocation assistance. We’re hearing that older adults may be among the first to arrive because of health concerns, things of that nature.”
