HARTFORD, CT -- Connecticut’s rural residents die at higher rates than their city and suburban counterparts and a large percentage of those deaths may be preventable if better public health programs or better access to health care services were available, according to the latest data from the National Center for Health Statistics. ROCKY HILL, CT -- Recent natural disasters have resulted in United Way of Connecticut 2-1-1 supporting relief efforts both nationally and in Connecticut. Thanks to support from Connecticut United Ways and the State of Connecticut, 2-1-1 Connecticut has provided direct relief, helped coordinate relief efforts and is now working as part of the State's Emergency Management Unified Command response to support those evacuated or displaced by recent and tragic natural disasters.

HARTFORD, CT -- Today, Comcast Corporation announced Internet Essentials, the nation’s largest and most comprehensive high-speed Internet adoption program, has expanded its senior pilot program to low-income seniors in Hartford. Comcast also announced that it has now connected more than 32,000 residents from 8,000 households across the state of Connecticut. Across the nation, Comcast has now connected more than four million low-income Americans, in one million households, to high-speed Internet service at home.
