Wednesday, June 13, 2018

WATERBURY, CT -- In its May grant round, Connecticut Community Foundation awarded a total of $18,800 in sponsorship grants to 23 nonprofit organizations hosting community events in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills in the coming months. The sponsored events included concerts, history tours, fundraising parties, festivals and community celebrations.

Julie Loughran, president and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation, said, “Our donors’ marvelous generosity has again been turned into grants that will allow more local residents to experience the abundance of cultural, musical, educational and historical gems of our region. Huge thanks to the donors and nonprofit organizations who invigorate Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills for the enjoyment of us all.”

The Foundation awards sponsorship grants of up to $2,500 to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, libraries, over-55 communities and/or senior centers for events held in the Foundation’s 21-town service area or to agencies whose programs serve the area.

Marcia Moriarty, house tour docent at the Watertown Historical Society, said, “Connecticut Community Foundation's generous $1,500 grant will enable the Watertown Historical Society to continue their annual house tour, which is its main source of fundraising. It will also help preserve Watertown's historical artifacts which are currently being housed in a pod until they can be permanently moved to a new location.  This grant is much appreciated and will be used to benefit the Watertown community for years to come.”
