WATERBURY­, CT -- A $30,000 grant from Connecticut Community Foundation to the Connecticut affiliate of FoodCorps, a national organization that connects kids to healthy foods, will give schoolchildren in four Waterbury and Naugatuck schools hands-on lessons in healthy eating in order to promote their preferences for fruits and vegetables—and improve overall nutrition and wellness.  The award is among 51 new grants totaling $366,600 made by the Foundation in their April grant round to nonprofit organizations serving communities in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills.

TORRINGTON, CT -- Susan (Susie) Payne of Washington and Frances Stoffer of New Hartford have been named to the executive committee of the Women & Girls Fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation. HARTFORD, CT -- As Connecticut continues to respond to budget challenges and declining school enrollment, some school districts have been considering regionalizing their K-12 education services as a way to reduce costs. In an effort to get a clearer understanding of the potential educational and community impacts of school and district regionalization, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has sponsored a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of K-12 regionalization to help inform those efforts. The literature review focuses on what is known about the effects of K-12 regionalization on education expenditures and educational achievement, based on recent empirical studies.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Bank of America today announced that more than $2.8 million has been delivered to Gulf Coast nonprofits collectively supporting short- and long-term Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. In addition to the previously announced $1 million in Hurricane Harvey relief funding the Bank of America Charitable Foundation committed to nonprofit organizations in the days following the hurricane, an outpouring of support from bank employee donations totaling more than $900,000 was also matched dollar-for-dollar through the company’s Employee Matching Gifts program.

WELLESLEY, MA -- Physician practices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire will receive grant funding this year from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s Quality Grants Program. Harvard Pilgrim’s 19th annual grant program will fund 11 initiatives up to $100,000 with each designed to improve care delivery and reduce costs within a variety of care delivery models.
