Funding Available for Community Events to be held June-September

NEW BRITAIN, CT -- Organizers of community events in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington slated to take place between June 1 and September 30 are encouraged to apply today for funding through the Community Sponsorship Awards program offered by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain.

Applications are due April 1.

The program provides critical financial support through sponsorship of local events that celebrate and promote children and families, arts, culture and heritage, education and civic engagement. To date, more than $30,000 in sponsorship awards have been made to events such as Community Mental Health Affiliates’ Run for Recovery, Good Cause Gifts’ Fashion Extravaganza, the Plainville Wings and Wheels Fly-In and Car Show and the Arc of Southington’s Annual Variety Show.

A limited number of Community Sponsorship Awards are available to 501(c)(3) organizations conducting community special events in the Foundation’s four-town service area. Requests should not exceed $750; however, the Community Foundation may elect to consider awards larger than $750 at its discretion. Awards are limited to one award per organization or event per year.

An application form is available on the Community Foundation website at www.cfgnb.org (click on Community Sponsorship Awards under the Receiving tab). For more information, contact Kimberly Duncan at kduncan@cfgnb.org, or call (860) 229-6018, ext. 300.

Community Sponsorship Awards are offered three times yearly. Applications for events held October through January are due August 1; applications for events held February through May are due November 1.

Established in 1941, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is “Where Good Begins” in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington.
