TORRINGTON, CT -- The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation, the Foundation for Community Health, Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, and the McCall Center for Behavioral Health have published a report on the opioid epidemic and its impact on Northwest Connecticut.

CT’s Beardsley Zoo Receives $30K Grant

BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo has received a $30,000 grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, including a $15,000 award from the foundation’s Fund for Women and Girls. The funds will be used to support the Zoo’s teen program, Conservation Discovery Corps (CDC).

Home-visiting Program for First-time Families Expands in CT

NEW HAVEN, CT -- Yale University’s Minding the Baby® (MTB) National Office was awarded an 18-month grant from the Grossman Family Foundation beginning in January 2017 to expand the MTB home visiting intervention in Connecticut. The MTB National Office is partnering with Family & Children’s Agency in Norwalk and Family Centers in Stamford to replicate the MTB model to serve young families through these agencies.

Targeting Skyrocketing Drug Prices, Yale Students Prepare Roadmap for Lawmakers

NEW HAVEN, CT -- The Yale Global Health Justice Partnership (GHJP), in collaboration with the National Physicians Alliance and the Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut, released a policy white paper, “Curbing Unfair Drug Prices: A Primer for States,” this week that seeks to advance state-level legislative efforts to rein in prescription drug prices by providing lawmakers with a clear picture of the strategies at their disposal.
