HARTFORD, CT -- The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving's Greater Together Gala on Thursday night at The Bushnell Center for Performing Arts included a keynote speech from the foundation's new president, Jay Williams. The fundraising event also included live music and art performances while giving supporters an opportunity to meet and discuss ideas about growth for the city of Hartford.

WILLIMANTIC, CT -- Savings Institute Bank & Trust is accepting submissions for its Lights, Camera, Save! video contest. The contest, organized by the American Bankers Association Foundation, is a national competition that encourages teens to use video to communicate the value of saving money and inspire their peers to become lifelong savers.

WASHINGTON, DC -- The president and CEO of Newman’s Own Foundation has lobbied for six years to save his foundation from a 200 percent tax, but didn’t know until Nov. 2 that the provision had been included in the House GOP tax bill. The foundation would be hit with the 200 percent tax in 2018 unless it has divested, but would be spared if the House Ways and Means Committee bill provision—which would exempt private foundations from the penalty if they meet certain requirements—is enacted.
