Cox Charities Northeast, a charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications, is currently accepting applications for its 2018 Cox Charities Community Grant program for summer enrichment and after-school programming focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) learning. Applications will be accepted electronically until January 17, 2018.

BRISTOL, CT -- On Tuesday, November 28th Bristol Youth Services was awarded a $2,000 grant to support the Skills to Pay the Bills program. The grant from the Men & Boys’ Fund at Main Street Community Foundation will expand the program, which has been offered to young women for the past 10 years, to include young men attending Bristol Public Schools.
HARTFORD, CT -- In an ongoing effort to reduce the number of motor vehicle crashes among 16-to 19-year-olds and better alert teens and their parents of the dangers, the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles and Travelers are once again launching their annual Teen Safe Driving Video contest for high school students. Entries are due by December 15, 2017. Travelers will award up to $26,000 in cash prizes to the winning students and their high schools.

DANBURY, CT -- During the holiday season, The News-Times, in partnership with the United Way of Western Connecticut, will present stories about ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families every Thursday. Six stories highlighted each week will outline how a local resident or family, whose names have been changed to protect their privacy, could be helped by receiving an estimated dollar amount.
