STAMFORD, CT -- United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) mobilized more than 200 corporate volunteers from 15 companies on Thursday, October 5, 2017 in projects across the Stamford community for its annual Day of Action.
NORWALK, CT -- Singer/songwriter John Mayer has established the Richard Mayer Scholarship Fund at Fairfield County's Community Foundation in honor of his father, Richard, who turned 90 last week. The four-year scholarship will provide funds to a student pursuing the field of education.
NEW CANAAN, CT -- Over the past 40 years, the foundation has given to local nonprofits in a range of areas, including youth programs, human services, elderly and special needs, health care and arts and culture. In 1987, its grants topped $100,000 and it distributed $1 million in grants in 2013. The foundation also awards over $100,000 worth of scholarships to students, many from the Sapienza Scholarship Fund established in 2007.
