NORWALK, CT -- For a quarter of a century, Fairfield County has reaped the rewards from a group of visionary business and community leaders who had the foresight to merge their respective foundations to enhance the region at large. They knew the region’s inequities, disparities and needs were significant and realized that together they could make a greater impact to better the lives of the county’s residents.

NORWALK, CT -- Singer/songwriter John Mayer has established the Richard Mayer Scholarship Fund at Fairfield County's Community Foundation in honor of his father, Richard, who turned 90 last week. The four-year scholarship will provide funds to a student pursuing the field of education.
NEW CANAAN, CT -- Over the past 40 years, the foundation has given to local nonprofits in a range of areas, including youth programs, human services, elderly and special needs, health care and arts and culture. In 1987, its grants topped $100,000 and it distributed $1 million in grants in 2013. The foundation also awards over $100,000 worth of scholarships to students, many from the Sapienza Scholarship Fund established in 2007.
MIDDLETOWN, CT -- This year marks the 20th anniversary of both the Liberty Bank Foundation and the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, and Middlesex United Way recounts their accomplishments and highlights some of their successful collaborations, including the Middlesex County Coalition on Housing and Homelessness, and the Middletown Thanksgiving Community Project.
NEW BRITAIN, CT -- David Obedzinski, who assumed his new post in mid-August following the retirement of long-time President Jim Williamson, has scheduled a series of community meetings with non-profit organizations in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington during the month of October, a “Fall Listening Tour.”
