It may be tempting to believe the events of the pandemic and racial justice uprisings are now two years behind us, but the reality is their reverabations are still making themselves known. Young people continue to shoulder much of the impact with alarmingly little support.  Philanthropy, policy-makers and other decision-makers often reduce the complex dynamics at play in young people’s lives to one-dimensional data points  and the “solutions” to young people’s perceived needs or challenges are left in the hands of those who are not walking in their shoes.

Please join us for an opportunity to learn about how the Leever Foundation, Perrin Family Foundation, and Ritter Family Foundation came together to elevate and amplify young people’s voices.  In this session, the collaborative partners will share themes and recommendations from “Seen and Heard: Race, COVID and what Philanthropy Can Do to Support Youth," a new report that compiles youth reflections from the first year of the  COVID-19 pandemic.  The report calls on philanthropy to recognize young people’s inherent power, better understand their multifaceted realities, commit to actionable steps that will target structural inequities, and prioritize young people’s direct engagement and leadership in advancing systemic change.

Featured Speakers:
Amarilis Pullen, Program Officer, Perrin Family Foundation
Kate Ritter, Executive Director, Ritter Family Foundation
Saran White, Executive Director, Leever Family Foundation
Sarana Beik, CT Black and Brown Student Union

This program is being co- hosted by the Council’s Program and Grantmaking Network, The Leever Foundation, Perrin Family Foundation, and Ritter Family Foundation. It is open to all CCP members and invited guests of the hosting foundations. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions.
