Meeting the Moment: Community, Equity, and Philanthropy
This year’s conference will focus on practical strategies to increase impact, advance equity, and improve grantmaking outcomes. CCP will bring the most important elements of our annual conference to a virtual space, providing opportunities for learning, networking, and building relationships to move work forward.
The virtual presentations are open to staff and trustees of grantmaking organizations, nonprofit organizations, government, and community leaders.
Session 1: Keynote Address with Trabian Shorters
Asset Framing for Equity During Crisis
Learn How Language and Narratives Can Support Communities and Social Change
CCP will present 2020 annual conference keynote speaker Trabian Shorters, in a special virtual program, "Asset Framing for Equity During Crisis." Understanding the transformational roles of storytelling and narratives in advancing racial equity and justice, Trabian Shorters, founder and CEO of BMe Community, former Knight Foundation VP, and New York Times bestselling author, pioneered the concept of "Asset-Framing,"—defining the communities we serve by their aspirations and contributions, not their challenges and deficits—a visionary approach to communications and engagement with communities that can increase equity, diversity, and impact. This keynote address is sure to inspire and provide new insights and tools you can begin applying to your work.

Join Michelle DePass, President and Chief Executive Officer, Meyer Memorial Trust, and Laura McCargar, President, Perrin Family Foundation, for an informative funder-to-funder dialogue about how foundations can increase impact and advance equity by engaging substantively with those most closely connected to the communities they aim to support.
