NORTH HAVEN, CT -- United Illuminating, Southern Connecticut Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas, the three Connecticut subsidiaries of Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR) recently distributed $280,450 to 44 nonprofit organizations, through the state of Connecticut’s Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program.

NEW GLOUCESTER, ME -- The Avangrid Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for master’s studies in energy and/or the environment at Binghamton University, Cornell University, the University of Connecticut, Oregon State University, the Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of Maine, and the University of Rochester in the United States; ICAI School of Engineering in Spain; and the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom for the 2017/2018 academic year. The Scholarship application deadline is 8 a.m. (EST) February 17, 2017.

NORWALK, CT -- With General Electric responsible for some 25 to 30 percent of its funding, the local chapter of the United Way, United Way of Coastal Fairfield County, is reeling over the company’s planned departure from Connecticut. The GE Foundation’s charitable donations cover a broad spectrum globally, ranging from $20 million for maternal and child health care programs in a half-dozen African countries to a gift of $1.25 million to health centers in Fairfield County, but Maggie Osborn, President of Connecticut Council for Philanthropy, says the real loss for Fairfield County and Connecticut is the loss of the high-net-worth employees.
