HARTFORD, CT -- Lisa Tepper Bates, the governor’s point person for getting housing and retail developed close to public transportation hubs, is leaving his administration to lead the United Way of Connecticut.
STAMFORD, CT -- The Children’s Learning Centers of Fairfield County has received a grant of a $35,000 from the United Way of Western Connecticut. The grant will provide critical funding to enable families to access high-quality early childhood education at the the Children’s Learning Centers. The United Way said it is working to help families it describes as Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed, or ALICE.
WEST HARTFORD, CT -- Ten bus shelter murals, with jolts of lively color, thought-provoking images and sometimes whimsical fun, are coming to West Hartford. The murals are commissioned by the town’s Art League, with each artist receiving a stipend of $600 to create his or her mural. The project was funded by a grant from the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation.
