WASHINGTON, DC — More than 250 philanthropy leaders from across the nation, including five representing Connecticut philanthropy, are gathering on Capitol Hill starting today to urge lawmakers to value and strengthen charitable giving in America. Their meetings are part of Foundations on the Hill, a multi-day event presented by the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers in partnership with the Council on Foundations and the Alliance for Charitable Reform.
DANBURY, CT -- Improving the lives of low-income Danbury residents is the purpose of new funding awarded to the city by the Boston Federal Reserve. Called the Working Cities Challenge Grant, it was awarded to a collaborative team led by the United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) and Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut (CAAWC).
NEW BRITAIN, CT -- Organizers of community events in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington slated to take place between June 1 and September 30 are encouraged to apply today for funding through the Community Sponsorship Awards program offered by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain. Applications are due April 1.

NEW CANAAN, CT -- The Sapienza Scholarship Fund was established at New Canaan Community Foundation in 2006 through a bequest from the estate of Anne and Anthony Sapienza. The fund supports individual scholarship awards to benefit specific students and makes grants to nonprofit educational organizations to fund their existing or planned scholarship programs for their students or clients. Proposals must be received by Friday, April 21, 2017.
