NEW BRITAIN, CT -- Jim Williamson and the Community Foundation for Greater New Britain were honored last week in Denver at the national Campaign for Grade Level Reading’s Funders Huddle with the Catalyst for Change Award.
PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Back on My Feet, a national nonprofit organization, announced it is expanding its partnership with Cigna through a $100,000 grant from the Cigna Foundation and the naming of a Cigna executive to its Board of Directors to help drive health and wellness programming. Operating in 12 major cities coast to coast, Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources.
MIDDLETOWN, CT -– The Rockfall Foundation recently announced the launch of a special campaign to commemorate 45 years of environmental grant making and support programs for students in the Lower Connecticut River Valley. The Fostering Future Stewards campaign will fund environmental education for kindergarten through 8th grade students with multi-year grants to schools for school-time, after school or summer programs.

HARTFORD, CT -- HYPE's 10th annual Tee it Up for Charity at the Travelers Championship on Thursday, June 22nd was a great success! This signature charity bash located in the Pro-Am Tent at the TPC River Highlands raised money for three beneficiaries: The First Tee of Connecticut, Junior Achievement of Southwest New England, and KNOX Inc. Everyone enjoyed the music, delicious food, and abundant sunshine and helped us raise $16,500 for these fantastic organizations! HARTFORD, CT -- As lawmakers debate major changes to the federal health law, it is important to understand what’s at stake in Connecticut. The Connecticut Health Foundation commissioned the Urban Institute to model the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on Connecticut, with a focus on state residents who might lack health care coverage without it.
STAMFORD, CT -- United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) announced today that they have invested $635,000 into early childhood, afterschool and educational enrichment programs in greater Danbury, greater New Milford and Stamford. All grant dollars are tied to program support for families living within the ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) income threshold (see household budget below). The grant funding period for these allocations is January 2017- June 2018.

STAMFORD, CT -- United Way of Western Connecticut honored Webster Bank President John Ciulla at its 23rd Annual Heart of Gold Dinner at the Stamford Marriott. The award honored Ciulla for Webster’s volunteerism policy which gives employees 16 hours of paid time off to encourage volunteer participation throughout the year.
