TORRINGTON, CT -- The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation has awarded grants to 21 area nonprofit organizations, totaling $103,950 during its first grant cycle of 2018.
Foundation’s $30,000 Grant to FoodCorps Will Give Waterbury and Naugatuck Schoolchildren Creative, Hands-On Lessons in Healthy Eating
WATERBURY, CT -- A $30,000 grant from Connecticut Community Foundation to the Connecticut affiliate of FoodCorps, a national organization that connects kids to healthy foods, will give schoolchildren in four Waterbury and Naugatuck schools hands-on lessons in healthy eating in order to promote their preferences for fruits and vegetables—and improve overall nutrition and wellness. The award is among 51 new grants totaling $366,600 made by the Foundation in their April grant round to nonprofit organizations serving communities in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills.

Hartford Foundation Sponsors Report on K-12 School District Regionalization
HARTFORD, CT -- As Connecticut continues to respond to budget challenges and declining school enrollment, some school districts have been considering regionalizing their K-12 education services as a way to reduce costs. In an effort to get a clearer understanding of the potential educational and community impacts of school and district regionalization, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has sponsored a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of K-12 regionalization to help inform those efforts. The literature review focuses on what is known about the effects of K-12 regionalization on education expenditures and educational achievement, based on recent empirical studies.

NEW HAVEN, CT -- The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven (The Foundation) is excited to announce the results of The Great Give® 2018, the region’s ninth community-wide online fundraising event for nonprofits serving The Foundation’s 20-town region. In 36 hours, the community raised over $1.7 million, far surpassing previous years, for Greater New Haven’s nonprofits.
