Nellie Mae Education Foundation Announces Their Supporting Organizations Led By People of Color and Amplifying Youth Voice Grant Recipients

QUINCY, MA -- Nellie Mae Education Foundation announced their first grant awards under their new organizational strategy to advance racial equity in public education. The Supporting Organizations Led By People of Color grants will provide $100,000 annually for three years to organizations led by leaders of color who are working to transform barriers to racial equity in public education. The Amplifying Youth Voice grants seek to amplify the authentic voices of young people throughout New England, supporting their participation in decision-making that affects their futures. This grant fund will support youth organizing groups with three-year general operating support grants of $52,750 annually, as well as technical assistance focused on building their capacity, power, and voice.

Connecticut Will Have Its First Statewide, Publicly Accessible Data Source to Assist Voter Registration, Voter Turnout Efforts

HARTFORD, CT -- The Connecticut Data Collaborative (CT Data) is constructing a public data platform designed to provide organizations seeking to increase voter registration and voting in Connecticut with the data necessary to more effectively target their efforts. Utilizing civic engagement grant funds awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, CT Data will provide data, analysis and technical assistance that will encourage the use of data to inform voter registration outreach efforts.

Community Food Drive to Be Held on August 7 & 8 at Danbury Fair Mall

DANBURY, CT -- United Way of Western Connecticut is partnering with the Danbury Fair Mall to conduct a food drive to benefit the Danbury Food Collaborative and its member pantries. Pantries are in desperate need of donations, as their shelves have been emptied by an overwhelming need for food as families face the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grants Available from COVID-19 Response Fund

BRISTOL, CT -- Main Street Community Foundation (MSCF) has launched Phase 2 of its COVID-19 Response Fund grant program. MSCF is now accepting applications for operating support grants to provide flexible general operating resources to nonprofit organizations affected by COVID-19. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 14, 2020 at 4 p.m.
