Newman's Own Distributes $200K to 5 Vets Organizations

WASHINGTON, DC -- The nation, writ large, has a moral responsibility to ensure the needs of veterans are met, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said at a ceremony where the Newman’s Own Foundation distributed funds to charities serving service members, their families and veterans. Marine Corps Gen. Joe Dunford praised Newman’s Own for its dedication to service members, veterans and their families. The group distributed $200,000 to five organizations during the Oct. 5 ceremony in the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes.

Middlesex County Individuals, Groups Win Rockfall Foundation Environmental Awards

MIDDLETOWN — The Board of Directors of The Rockfall Foundation will be giving environmental awards to four area organizations and individuals next month. Each will be recognized at the annual meeting, grants, and awards celebration November 1 at 6 p.m. The event, open to the public, will take place at the deKoven House Community Center, 27 Washington St., Middletown.

Scott Grateful for Generosity Shown for Hurricane Relief

TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Gov. Rick Scott and Volunteer Florida on Monday thanked the people and businesses who have come forward with generous donations to the Florida Disaster Fund since he activated it last week to help those impacted by Hurricane Michael.  Some of the biggest donations so far have come from Wells Fargo ($250,00); Aetna ($100,000); Duke Energy ($50,000) and Uber ($25,000). Dr. Garth Graham, president of the Aetna Foundation and vice president of community health for Aetna, Inc. said, "As someone who grew up in Florida, I know firsthand that Floridians will be resilient as they recover from Hurricane Michael. We hope that the donation from the Aetna Foundation and the efforts of Aetna employees in the area will help support these recovery efforts."
