Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President for Communications and Marketing, the Communications Associate will collaborate within the Communications and Marketing team to execute communication output that highlights the Foundation's community impact. The Communications Associate will support integrated marketing and communications efforts by coordinating and executing digital design content, managing social media channels, and providing operational and administrative support to the department.

 

**The ideal candidate has visual storytelling ability and is interested in supporting and working with an experienced team of mission-driven, community-centered communicators.

 

Essential Duties &

Responsibilities:

  • Design and create a range of content for digital and print publications including graphics to support the project leads for the website, email communications, social media, slide presentations, brochures, and marketing materials.
  • Manage the Foundation’s social media content calendar, creating schedules and developing timelines across multiple platforms.
  • Provide general administrative support for the department including handling of general inquiries, paying invoices, tracking monthly expenses, managing subscriptions, and maintaining files.
  • Execute updates to the Foundation’s websites and post media alerts
  • Collaborate across departments to support print, electronic and social media messaging and materials.
  • Collaborate with members of the Communications and Marketing team to develop, maintain, and strengthen the Foundation’s communications channels, brand identity, voice, and storytelling.
  • Proofread and update written material for communications channels-including social media platforms, email newsletters, intranet, external websites and more.
  • Support Foundation events, including sending invitations and related duties.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors (including photographers, videographers, and other partners).
  • Support, measure, and track community engagement across social and email channels.
  • Attend associated events for communications support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of graphic design platforms (Adobe Creative Suite including Canva and Lightroom, preferred.)
  • Proficient writing, editing and proofreading skills (social media copy, blog writing, copy-editing).
  • Knowledge of website content management systems (WordPress and concrete5, preferred.)
  • Positive, team-oriented work style.
  • Experience working with email platforms such as Constant Contact, and/or website design management.
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to build strong relationships.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

 

Education and Experience:

Degree requirement can be substituted with equivalent practical experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, other relevant area or equivalent work experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in digital design and social media.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working with nonprofits, fundraising, or community organizations.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
