Prime Time House Uses Grants for New Mini-van

TORRINGTON, CT -- The Litchfield-based Seherr-Thoss Foundation provided a $9,000 matching grant to Prime Time House for a new minivan. The grant was matched by the Edward W. Diskavich Fund and the Pierpont Chapter #49 Order of Eastern Star Fund of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation awarding an additional $9,000 towards this purchase. This van will provide transportation for more than 300 members who use various programs at the Torrington campus.

Grant Supports Prevention Program for Wolcott Youth

WOLCOTT, CT -- Wolcott Crossroads was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Bristol Savings Bank Fund at Main Street Community Foundation to install a projection system at the organization’s Youth Center.

Bristol Summer Work Experience Program Fills Vital Need

BRISTOL, CT -- Despite the elimniation of the State Summer Youth Employment Program positions in Bristol, 30 Bristol high school students were given the opportunity to work a meaningful job within their community while developing the skills and personal qualities necessary for success in the workforce. The Walsh Summer Work Experience Program (WSWEP) was funded with a grant from the Tim and Mary Walsh Charitable Fund at Main Street Community Foundation and coordinated by the United Way of West Central Connecticut.

Year-End Critical Needs Grants Now Available

TORRINGTON, CT -- The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation has allocated up to $60,000 to distribute to public charities and faith-based organizations in its 20-town service area* for year-end critical-needs grants. Applications are due by Friday, October 13, 2017. Grants will be awarded in December 2017.
