HARTFORD, CT -- As people fleeing Puerto Rico begin to trickle into Connecticut, an informal coalition of city officials, philanthropists, hospitals, public schools and faith groups have been mobilizing, even as they face a big unknown: How many families will need their help? The disaster in Puerto Rico also has brought together a network of potential partners including Travelers, MetroHartford Alliance, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, and Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

NEW HAVEN, CT -- Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C. is pleased to announce that Attorney Gregory J. Pepe has been appointed to The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven Board of Directors. The New Haven County Bar Association recommended that Mr. Pepe be its designee to the board of the Community Foundation for a 7-year term. Mr. Pepe assumes the position on Jan. 1, 2018.
NEW CANAAN, CT -- Over the past 40 years, the foundation has given to local nonprofits in a range of areas, including youth programs, human services, elderly and special needs, health care and arts and culture. In 1987, its grants topped $100,000 and it distributed $1 million in grants in 2013. The foundation also awards over $100,000 worth of scholarships to students, many from the Sapienza Scholarship Fund established in 2007.
REDDING, CT -- In response to Connecticut's budget crisis, which has severely impacted students' access and exposure to music education and the arts, Connecticut-based nonprofits SpreadMusicNow and Band Together CT have announced a benefit concert in support of music education on November 4th. All funds raised will be matched by local philanthropists in conjunction with Fairfield County's Community Foundation.

WATERBURY, CT -- Barbara Bradbury-Pape of Woodbury, Elizabeth Johnson of Cheshire, John Newton of Warren, and Rabbi Eric Polokoff of Southbury, have been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Connecticut Community Foundation, which serves 21 towns in Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills.
