This Is A Great Summer: Area Youth Get Chance to Join Workforce, Earn First Paycheck
NEW BRITAIN, CT -- An American Savings Foundation grant allowed 30 youth to join the workforce and earn their first paychecks this summer. The $75,000 grant supported the New Britain Summer Youth Employment and Learning Programs and paid summer internship programs for college students, providing them with job readiness and career experience.

HARTFORD, CT -- More than 1,000 youths in Greater Hartford will begin working under a summer career readiness program aimed at training young people for jobs in high-demand sectors. The Capital City contributed $1 million to the program, while the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving provided more than $400,000. The state, its labor unit department and the American Savings Foundation and other groups also provided funding for the workforce program.
