Connecticut will lose $2900 in federal funding for every person not counted in the 2020 Census

HARTFORD, CT -- With billions of dollars in federal funding on the line, the state has committed $500,000 to boost participation in the 2020 Census, Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz announced Thursday. That will be matched by another $500,000 in philanthropic funding and more than $400,000 from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

In Some States, the Census Is An Investment. Not Connecticut.

HARTFORD, CT -- Connecticut is among the half of states in the nation spending no money on the census, instead relying on philanthropy and networks of volunteer committees to bolster U.S. Census workers, who will try to find and count the millions of Americans who do not respond next spring.
