New Britain, Conn. – American Savings Foundation board of directors recently announced the promotion of Jennifer Cowan to Program Officer for Grants. The announcement was made by Maria Falvo, President & CEO of American Savings Foundation.

“This promotion recognizes the key role Jenna plays at the Foundation,” said Falvo. “She oversees our program grants and community grants funding and is wonderful resource for grantseekers who are looking for more information about the Foundation and our application process. Jenna is also highly respected by all our grantee agencies where she conducts annual site visits and provides feedback and support.”

In addition to grants, Ms. Cowan helps to lead the Foundation’s communications efforts, including spotlighting grantee stories through print and social media.  She also supports the Foundation’s very successful summer internship program, which helps match American Savings Foundation Scholars with professional, paid summer internship experiences at local nonprofit organizations.

Ms. Cowan recently completed the Leadership Greater Waterbury program through the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce. Through this nine-month leadership program she learned more about the Waterbury area. Emerging leaders from the area collaborated to research a community challenge and develop a strategy to support that needed.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Cowan spent nine years in grants management at the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. Ms. Cowan holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western New England University and a master’s degree in Information Management from Bay Path University. She currently resides in Enfield with her husband and daughter.
